Tuesday I let Brynn and Evan skip preschool to go to Build*a*Bear to meet Maggie for her birthday. Nyah had been coughing up a storm for two days prior ~ day and all night so no sleep for the adults ~ but I was tired of being trapped in the house and she seemed slightly better, so off we went. We ended up with one bear (LC), one rabbit (NyNy), and one dog (Kookie). In the next picture, the rabbit is on the floor... read below for why. Also notice the blur in the picture... a grumpy Nyah smeared my lens with her sucker... nice.
I questioned whether the purchases were worth it after though when only Evan seemed to enjoy his bear and even then, it was more the football that came with his bear than the bear itself. Brynn initially wanted a premade, tiny dog in the store that was only $5.50 and seemed disappointed with her self-created animal, and well, Nyah pretty much wanted nothing to do with her rabbit, throwing it down and screeching if you handed it to her. Now, three days later, I have seen Evan and Brynn involve their new animals in a lot of pretend activities and Brynn has even brought hers to bed with her for two nights.

So Wednesday we went to Nyah's doctors appointment even though she seemed better because the rash on Evan's face was worse (I actually doctored most of the above pictures because the rash was UGLY). Well, the doctor took a look at both and they are now both medicated... Nyah for an ear infection and Evan for impetigo. He is on "house arrest" until tomorrow morning. Here he is checking out the progress of the medication and thing are looking far better...
Also on Wednesday Brynn refused, REFUSED, to get out of bed to go to preschool. She has been in a funk all week and I am pretty sure it is because of the extra attention Nyah was getting since she was ill. I am very thankful she is finally in better spirits today.
See how calm Evan and Nyah are in this picture?
It is not the norm. Evan continues to be ALL OVER Nyah, ALL the time... he make her laugh sometimes but more often he makes are scream, and not for joy. So since he has been home all week, I am considering wearing the earplugs a friend gave me last summer. Evan is responsible for this smile AND this injury...
Today's warmer weather, and the chance to get outside without freezing toes, helped everybody's spirits so we are all on the mend physically and mentally.
These were just a few things about the week... there were more but I've shared enough and I am sure you are tired of reading my whines. I thought Christmas break would be tough and the relief would come once school started again but it has been the opposite. Maybe next week will be calmer... keeping my fingers crossed!

Oh, I think your week was harder than mine. And I whined a lot! Enjoy the weekend.....I hope next week is better!
Ack. What a week, Kate!! Some days all you wish for is the chance to stay home in jammies and avoid the cold air and running around like a madman....until you get what you wish for. Here's hoping all are feeling well again soon!
(Cracking up at Nyah with the bunny -- so are you thinking it was her way of telling you her ears hurt from the infection? Or just taking out her aggression?) ;)
