Week of Nov 21, 2010... just 3

Well, didn't take long to not make my 7 in 7 goal. Good thing I am REALLY starting it in 2011 and this was just practice, HAH. Three pictures this week, just three! Well I took more than that but either they are all of Caleb, in the same clothes, in the same basic location... my yearly attempt at not buying a school picture and taking my own (though really I did buy Caleb's since it is his first year in middle school) OR they are all of Nyah at her preschool Thanksgiving program. I am posting two of those because in one she was waving to me (something she did repeatedly throughout the program along with yelling, "Hi Mom!") and in the other she is just so into singing. Enjoy!

Turkey Trot

We joined the annual 5k Turkey Trot in our neighborhood on Thanksgiving morning and this year, Brynn decided to participate so I hung out with her. We ran some and walked some. Looking back, she claims it was so much fun. During, I didn't really get that vibe from her, lol.

Ev amazes me...

I am long overdue for an Evan update... my poor little man turned seven earlier this month and I didn't even blog about it! My goal is to do so by the end of the week but meanwhile I want to share the project he did for school this evening... a timeline covering every year of his life to date (this is a snapshot of a .pdf file; I'm hoping it is as clear as the original).

Doing a project on the computer with Evan is fun. Unlike some of his siblings, Evan doesn't dread it or whine about it; he just gets it done. And you show him something once... copy and paste, outlining, changing colors, inserting pictures, Word Art, inserting and manipulating arrows, etc... and he just takes over and actually gets annoyed if you try to help. Wow! I did think it was also pretty clever how he figured out after one caption that if he typed all in capitals he didn't have to worry about capitalizing certain words, lol. We were not supposed to help at all with the writing part so I didn't, except after he finished he asked if he spelled anything wrong. I said yes and he immediately found an error (left the o out of Halloween). Later he asked again if anything was spelled wrong and I said yes, and once again, he knew what it might be (he had wasent but changed it to "was not" when he couldn't figure out how to spell wasn't). He thinks it is all correct now and I have to say, I was happy he stopped asking because I didn't want him to start feeling like he wasn't doing an outstanding job.

I figure I have about 1 year left before his academic skills leave me in the dust!

Week of Nov 14, 2010

This week was our annual pumpkin smashing in the creek behind our house. The kids find this thrilling and ask from Halloween on when we can do it. I think we waited a bit too long this year; the pumpkins are a bit rotten in the pictures, YUCK! Nyah wasn't into the smashing but the others were. Here are a few favorites from the day (and no, it is not baseball season... Price was dressed up for an event at school... a visit from a college baseball team!).

Girl Talk...

With "the boys" planning several trips in coming weeks to football games, I decided last night that "the girls" need a little getaway. Disney on Ice is coming here in December and I thought that might be fun to go see but the show features the princesses and, well, last time we were at Disney Brynn was telling park employees, "Princesses are stupid." So before I booked the tickets I figured I better double check the interest even though I was pretty sure I had an ace-in-the-hole with the promise of a girls' night in a hotel.

Me to the girls: "I was thinking about taking you two to an ice skating show in Richmond in December."  Two sets of eyes light up.  "But Brynn, I want you to know it is a Disney show but it features the princesses."

Nyah's reply: "Me, me, me!" as she grins from ear to ear.

Brynn's reply, "Okay, but if I throw up some it is the princesses' fault."

Lovely. This will be interesting...

Week of November 7, 2010

Okay, this is really going to be 7 1/2 pictures... I'll start with the 1/2 because no one should see a picture of my ugly foot full size:

I slipped down our garage stairs on the 4th and half of the top of my foot and four toes are still painfully bruised (this picture is from the 9th). I was very upset because on the 13th I was supposed to run my last official race, an 8k, before the baby comes.

I decided to run anyway after not running since the injury, and ironically, my foot didn't hurt AT ALL running! Getting shoes on and off is now the only painful part. I am thrilled to say I ran the entire way... all 5 miles (slowly, in 63 minutes and my goal was 65!); there was even a short sprint (to the porta-potty) at mile 2!

I did get a giggle looking at my chip. Not only was it a reminder that my large shirt is a size bigger than last year's (and even that size is pretty close to not fitting at this point) but also printed on the chip was my parents' phone number... I had listed them as my emergency contact.

After the race Doug and I went to the Richmond Spiders game at the new stadium. They won, the stadium is really nice, and it was a great day!

This picture was my first attempt back at more portrait style pictures... it has been months since I have really focused (no pun intended) on setting my camera up properly for lighting and exposure and such but I have a few families that have asked me to take pictures for them in the coming weeks so I decided I needed practice. Just in my kitchen but I thought this came out well... of course she is just beautiful anyway!

And then this note just cracked me up. I made him add in the "please" and the "Love" from the original if he was going to have me go through the extra effort (he typically eats a waffle with peanut butter); after breakfast Monday he made the other change.

Week of Oct 31, 2010

I planned on starting a new blog where I take 7 pictures in 7 days for 2011 and decided to start early. I've now decided (12/31/2010) that I need to have just one blog to document everything... my hobbies, my family, etc. so I am copying/pasting the posts I have done and backdating them.

Well, not exactly the greatest start... all 7 pictures are from the same day ~ the only day I took pictures all week!  But it is a start!  Here are my favorites:

Happy Birthday Evan!

Evan turned 7 today!

His "party" was two weeks ago. It turned into more of a party than I thought it would but it was very last minute. When we planned it I asked who he wanted to invite and he only mentioned family and two friends from the neighborhood so we chose the date based on when those people could be there. I also invited close family friends and then the day of we asked the neighbors over.

There were just enough players for a fun football game ane the weather was great.
