On Saturday four of the five S children had soccer games. Price's kicked off the day (no pun intended) and we are ecstatic that he has the same coach again and his teammates/friends have all returned to play, even though he has moved up an age bracket. "Fire" will be hard to stop because they are quite a talented group of players! Price scored a goal and played a great game defensively and I think he finally understands that that is just as important as scoring.
Next Evan and Brynn played their game; thankfully they are on the same team (Ducky) so we don't have four games to watch. Brynn stepped up the aggressiveness compared to in practices but she is not as feisty of a player as you would expect if you know her in "real life." She was so funny when she looked over and saw us under an umbrella trying to escape from the sun. She stopped short her run down the field (imagine screeching tires) and shouted, "Mama, why you have umbrella?" Brynn is playing for the trophy at the end of the season. When asked what the score was at the end of the game, she replied, "I don't know" with a shrug of her shoulders. She likes bathroom and water breaks best. I love how her shirt is so long and her shorts so short that her shirt comes out the bottom of the shorts when it is tucked in.
Evan on the other hand let us know the score was "100-1" (which is was not) and that, "We crushed them" (which they really did though it feels wrong to say that about 4-5 year olds). Evan was intense and focused to no one's surprise and scored two goals and wanted to play the whole game... why would you want to take a break if there is a sport to be played?
Caleb's game was last but unfortunately, the other team had only 4 players so all the kids were just divided up and the game was more like a practice game. Between the heat and his jet lag we took Caleb home early... he was sitting on the field in the middle of the game so we knew it was too much.
7 more weeks of busy Saturdays ahead! But it is worth it because the kids are all on teams with coaches that are A+ in my book... encouraging, knowledgeable about the game, and positive in spirit!

God Bless you for enduring the soccer season. I think we need to move Brynn over to the sport of cheerleading!! I can just see Evan on the soccer field and trying to keep the score in his head. Hopefully Caleb will back in full swing this week-end, I know the jet lag was a real bummer. And Price, well he seems to always have a smile on his face!
Next up........basketball perhaps?
