Nyah's days...

Nyah is coming out of her shell more and more each day and seems to have adjusted quite well to the chaos of our household. The rest of us (okay, mostly me) are still working on maintaining sanity with the addition of a toddler in the house. Luckily, she is not very adventurous with visiting rooms she is not used to being in so that has helped, but there are still other things we are adding back into our "routine"... diapers, bottles (she has 1 at night), toddler eating, hour long meals, sleep time struggles including getting a good nap in, the "everything belongs to me" mentality, etc. that will just take a while to get used to. But she keeps us laughing. She is goofy and silly. She loves to dance and has learned a few baby signs, just not yet how to use them at the right time.

Here are some of her favorite things...

Bath time... she loves to take a bath now and was mad the other night when Evan and Brynn took one and she was not included.

Her siblings... no matter how rough they are with her (though I think her eye wound in some of the pictures is actually from my rings after a minor apple-piece-down-the-wrong-pipe-and-panicking-mom incident) she loves when they are around and screams with joy when she first sees them in the morning and after school.

Collecting things... nothing is safe. I have found my novel from my bedside in a bucket in her room and tonight she was looking through an untied garbage bag in the kitchen. We are learning to store things high and not on the edge of anything.

And the all-time favorite...

Eating!!!! She now has a belly to help hold up those tiny pants.

Notice in the bottom row, the picture where there appears to be no food... she is picking up and eating the crumbs left over from the plate I just removed. We spend a lot of time at the table... well, she does while I clean the kitchen, check my email, fold the laundry on the counter, pack the next day lunches, take a lot of pictures, clean the pantry, etc. And in case I don't offer her her 3 meals, 2 snacks, plus unlimited beverages each day, the girl has decided to try to save some food for later...

Remember in China she wouldn't sit anywhere but my lap! It was cleaner then for sure but she is much happier so the mess is worth it!

Kate - thanks for the comment you left. We just got home last night, Friday, Sept. 26 @ 11:00 pm. It looks like everything is going well with you and your family, that's fantastic. Our daughter, Ava, is fantastic too. Kim from Louisa was in our group in Beijing but we didn't see her again once we went to our provinces. I think she stayed at the Victory in Guangzhou, we stayed at the White Swan. Anyway, Nyah seems perfect. Maybe we can meet somewhere between Stafford and Louisa someday. She looks so happy!! Mitchell commented after his visit with her today, that she was really coming out of her shell(I have figured out why he keeps taking bike rides after school).
