Two weekends ago we signed the kids up for a benefit race in Richmond. Evan & Brynn had been sick the week before (Evan for 3 days, Brynn for 1) but they recovered in time to have great races. Caleb ran in the boys 10 year old 1 mile race and finished 9th and earned a plaque. He loves to race and he learned this time that starting super fast isn't always the best thing. Price ran in the 7 & under boys 1 mile race. He runs like his parents do ~ just for fun. The difference is that Price manages to smile the whole time; we aren't doing a lot of smiling in our 1/2 marathons. Evan & Brynn ran the kids fun run, which I think was a little less than 1/2 a mile. Brynn started off strong, smiling and giggling though, and then walked the second half. Caleb came on the course to walk/run with her ~ aww. Evan, well, he took off like there was a gallon of Moose Tracks ice cream at the finish line (wait, that is my inspiration) and never looked back. Granted he was only 1 month shy of being too old for this race and he was racing against some kids who were 1/2 his age but his run was impressive regardless. He is one determined child and while there were no prized for the fun run, he knew he had done well.
Caleb is at the mid-point in his flag football season and loving it! He likes playing wide receiver the best though clearly I only take pictures when he is quarterback. :) I haven't been able to see many of his games because I have been at the soccer field with the other two boys.
Price is on the Fire team again. He still loves it and was quite please the other week to score a goal since he plays a lot of defense and doesn't always have many opportunities. These pictures are from the first game, before we knew what his shirt color would be; we joked in the car on the way that if they were green again, he would be very Christmas-y and he was.
Price missed last week's game because he was sick over the weekend and then we missed practice this week and was mad about it! It was cold and rainy and he still has a cough so we insisted he miss. Hopefully he will have a game tomorrow but rain is predicted, again.
Evan is on Lil' Foot again and again, is in green... years from now I will not be able to tell what season the pictures are from! They are a very strong team... and I promise you, it is not because I am the assistant coach. Evan is really ready for the bigger field but age wise, he is in the right place and if we bump him up, he would be on Price's team and I don't know if that is a wise move. So we encourage him to pass the ball a lot and see if he can help each of his teammates get a goal and he has been trying... he likes a mission!
Evan was sick again on Monday and now Caleb has been sick since Wednesday though today his fever is gone. This is the first year ever that we have had a lot of sickness in our house. So far Nyah has managed to miss it; she must have a strong immune system because it is impossible to keep her away from whomever happens to be home ill that day.
I'll do an update on the girls on Monday night... after Brynn officially becomes a Daisy (Girl Scouts)!
