Happy Birthday Price!

Before Doug and I married, I would occasionally go to his family's church and I clearly remember falling head-over-heels for a preschool age boy there with light eyes and curly blonde hair. He was related to one of my students at the time (one who always made me giggle even if it was a battle to get him to work) and the two of them together just made me smile. I remember thinking at the time, "I want a child with blue eyes and blonde hair just like they have." I knew that was not going to happen as the majority of my family had dark hair and brown eyes and Doug's family is short on blondes as well.

How wrong I was! Today, my own blue eyed, blonde haired angel who makes my heart sing every day with his own smile, giggle, and kind-heart turned 7!. He is such a sweetheart and has always been such an easy-going child, well, other than the three hours of panic before he arrived a bit early on my living room sofa.

This year he picked his own birthday present, a Nint*ndo DS, and tonight when he went to bed I heard him tell his brothers, "Can you believe I have my very own DS??" He shared his new games with his two brothers this evening and I really am not sure they would have shared with him if the situation was reversed. I am proud of how thankful he is for things and his generous spirit.

We celebrated small with family tonight. In a few weeks he is going to have his party with friends... if his slack mom gets herself together to make the invitations. Maybe with school reopening tomorrow (snowdays!), I'll get a chance to think for a second and put something together.

Oh, yeah, that preschool blondie (his mom told me last year he actually has green eyes ~ oops)... a few weeks ago, I watched him play for the high school's basketball team. How time flies!
