Sad News Tonight

My computer is kaput, again, so I haven't been updating the blogs because it is hard for me to post without pictures, but I received some sad news about "Fiona" tonight.  We have been sponsoring her for 2 1/2 years now through the Phil Hayden Foundation.  She turned six in December.

"This evening, Sunday Feb.7, about 6PM China time Fiona in House of Peace passed from this world to the next. She had a strong cough for the past 2 days and today had vomiting and stomach pain. We were just about to transport her to the heart hospital in Beijing when she passed. As we know her heart condition was inoperable and she needed her medications to stay alive. This acute illness stress was enough in her case to cause a very quick decompensation of her fragile heart. We mourn her loss as she was a real favorite and friend of the ayis, staff and medical team. Of course her many friends in House of Peace will be missing a close family member. We rejoice, however, that she is now in paradise with Him. Forgotten is all the suffering that came with her frail body. We will continue to lift her up and ask comfort for the ayis, staff and kids that know her. This will be a time of mourning for us as we realize this sweet little girl is gone. A memorial celebration of her life will be planned for later this week."

Fiona received love and care at Shepherd’s Field from the only family she ever knew.

I loved getting updates about Fiona and I will miss those.  We will be sponsoring another child at Shepherd's Field; go
here if you are interested in doing the same.  We also sponsor a 7 year old boy, Umesh, who lives in India, through Compassion International; Umesh lives with his parents and a sibling so he is not an orphan. We actually get letters from him and that has been a neat experience.  We can't bring them all home but we do try to make a difference!

So sad :( that she had to die an orphan...praise the Lord that she is no longer an orphan on Earth but in the arms of her Heavenly Father. My prayer is that anyone who has ever considered adopting would just jump right in and do it.

I am so sorry Kate. The loss of a child is so tragic. I heard "Heaven is the Face" by Steven Curtis Chapman the other day and cried through almost the whole song. The last verse talks about someday all the orphanage beds being empty and there being no more death. I yearn for that day.
