It has been 1 year...

One year ago, June 12, 2006, I was anxiously sitting in my hotel room in Nanchang, China, waiting to meet my daughter. I couldn't believe the day was there, that we were meeting in the hotel, that her foster mother would be there...

When the knock on the door came and I opened it, I was speechless. Hiding behind her Mama's leg was Fu Man Lu. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Her foster mom was in tears, I was in tears, and later B was in tears. Later that day, the adoption was complete and B was our daughter.

She is an amazing girl. From the beginning she has been so playful and energetic. She is adventurous and fears nothing! She loves to ride her scooter, help with everything around the house, to swim and play in water, and to be pushed in a swing. She can keep up with her brothers without a problem... she was thrilled when her brothers gave her a purple lightsaber for her birthday. She has amazed us with her language skills which we have no doubt have been helped by her non-stop need to talk! (I do wish, however, that "poopy-head" was not part of her vocabulary). She is the first of my children to have had surgery and as always, her braveness blows us away. She appreciates everything you give her, cherishing everything from a vitamin to a doll to pair of sunglasses. Her willingness to try every food (especially if it is on someone else's plate)has had a great impact on 2 of her 3 brothers.

We love you goggle girl! We feel truly blessed to have you as part of our family.

And we continue to be grateful to her foster mom, who cared for B from the day she was found until the day she was adopted; B is who she is because of her Mama's love! (we do write back and forth and that too is a blessing)
